Diet for a healthy breastfeeding MOM

The New Mother - Please Take Care of Yourself After Birth.


  • In the first few weeks, a mother needs to be rest of all responsibilities other than feeding the baby and taking care of herself.
  • Sleep when the baby sleeps. This may be only a few minutes of rest several times a day, but these minutes can help you out.
  • While you are feeding, your body releases the hormone and it makes you feel thirsty.So drink at least one glass of water every time you feed your baby as well as in between when you feel thirsty.

  • Breastfeeding Mother are given a lot of dried fruit, ghee and sugar in past days. If you are eating normal food, you can leave out the extra ghee and sugar. Dried fruits are extremely healthy and used in most traditional confinement foods

  • Get some form of daily exercise, such as walking after 1 month.

  • Make sure you have adequate dietary fiber. Bran muffins, high-fiber cereals, and lots of fruits and vegetables are good fiber choices. 
  •  Choose low-fat or lean meats and poultry. 
  • Don’t Lose weight too quickly may cause you to make less milk.
  • Oranges are a great food to boost energy.
  • Leafy green veggies like spinach, Swiss chard, and broccoli are good for you and your baby.
