Eating Well When You're Pregnant


A pregnant woman's calorie intake grows during pregnancy.The mother should follow a varied, balanced, and nutritious diet.



A pregnant woman needs to ensure that her diet provides enough nutrients and energy for her baby to develop and grow properly.

What items should eat during pregnancy

  • Eat a variety of foods to get all the nutrients you need. - she should aim for five portions of fruit and/or veggies per day. They may be in the form of juice, dried, canned, frozen, or fresh.. eating fruit is usually better for you than just drinking the juice.

  • Choose foods high in fiber that are enriched, such as whole-grain breads, cereals, pasta and rice, as well as fruits and vegetables. Starchy carbohydrate-rich foods - including potatoes, rice, pasta, and bread should eat.


  • Make sure you are getting enough Vitamins and minerals in your daily diet while pregnant.
  • Eat and drink at least four servings of dairy products and Calcium rich foods a day to help ensure that you are getting Calcium in your daily diet during pregnancy.

  • Eat at least three servings of iron-rich foods, such as lean meats, spinach, beans, and breakfast cereals each day to ensure you are getting iron daily.
